Every Monday night we played beach volley ball with our 4 mixed team; Philippe, Max, Antoine and me. Our team name was 'French Connection'. Every Monday night we played a match against one of the other teams. Each match is 2x17 minutes. We lost two games over the whole semester and we were fourth out of 16 in the end rankings. Thus we had to play semi-finals today.
I thought the game would be suspended because of the rain... but it was dry, so the game went on. We had to play against the first team in the ranking. The game was very close and at the break it was 23-23. After the break suddenly we lost 10 points in a row... We could not come back and we lost the game with 7 points difference....
After this game we had to play the 'losers' final for the third place. It looked like it would be very easy! Very soon in the game we had 10 points in advance. After the break they were coming closer, but we were still leading. Than it started pouring with rain, but the game went on. One minute before the end we had 2 points in advance. But at the end it was 59-59. So we had to play one more point.... It was a loooooooooongg rally... but we lost :-( It was so close!
So no medal for us.... But, every Monday night we had a lot of fun playing the games and I have to say, we improved a lot! Next semester we will probably play in the fours mixed on Monday nights and the Threes mixed on Tuesday night!
Now it is still raining! It looks like it will never stop!

Rain Rain Rain
Hello all!
Nothing special to talk about this weekend.... It has been raining raining and raining. On Saturday I went to Robina Town Center for shopping, we cleaned the house and our room and in the afternoon I visited Popi in the hospital as she gave birth to Jason! Such a cute baby! In the evening we watched the movie "The longest day" which we rented at Bond University library.
On Sunday morning it was raining like crazy and it did not stop raining till the afternoon. Our little pier is again under water as you can see on the picture!

During the afternoon I worked on the methods chapter of my PhD and on the chapter of the sport structures in Belgium and Australia.
In the evening, we took some pictures of the swans in the water.

15 minutes after making the pictures, it was pouring with rain again! The rain is making me crazy! And it is not going to change the next week. Thunderstorms and a lot of showers...
I would prefer the Belgian snow instead of this rainy weather! Hopefully the weather will be better soon!
Cheers,
Jessie

Weekend
Pas grand chose ce weekend...
Friday night we played beach volleyball.
On Saturday morning I had some relaxing time at our pool! The sun was shining, it was warm, and the pool was great! Loved it! In the afternoon, we went to Mountain Tamborine. There we did a small walk (1,5h) in the national park. We saw a nice waterfall. Here are some pictures:

When we came back from our walk we jumped on the bikes again... or that was what we wanted to do... I could not find my key! I found the keys of the bike locks we used to put our motor bike jackets, I found Phils key. But I could not find mine! We looked everywhere on the floor. We went back to the lookout point, because there I took the bottle of water out of my bag... but no key. I emptied the pockets of my jacket again and again... I emptied the bag we had three times... Nothing! We met some people who lived close to the place and they helped us searching. They proposed to push my bike to their home so that we could leave it there over night. Another problem was that my helmet was locked on the bike with the bike key... so we could not go home one bike... When Philippe did a fifth check of the bag we had, he could not find it... but then he turned the bag upside down... and guess what fell out the bag: the Key!!!! I was so happy! I almost did the whole walk again, to search for the key...
Sunday morning it was cloudy... but after waking up we did a quick swim in the pool! God, I love this pool so much! After the swim it was working time...
The weather forecast for the next days is thunderstorms :-( The weather at the moment is not what I expected! Phil told me that last year this time the weather was great! Hopefully the weather becomes better soon!
Now it is Sunday night... Tomorrow working again!
Cheers

Motorbike Trip and Beach
Last weekend we did a motorbike trip. We went to Springbrook and then we rode to Mountain Tambourine. Unfortunately we had no time to go for a walk. We attached our cameras to our helmets to film while we were riding the bikes. Unfortunately I cannot upload the movie here as it is too big. You can see it on Facebook.
On Saturday afternoon we went to the beach with Pierre, one of our housemates. We could take a lot of stuff (volley ball, body boards,...) as we went by car. We went to our favourite beach; Dreamtime Beach in New South Wales. We played some beach volleyball, we swum, we walked on the big rock, we climbed up the rocks and then we jumped in the sea. It was a relaxing afternoon!
We had a good weekend. Unfortunately the weekends are too short!

Party weekend
On Friday night we went to play beach volleyball again. There were less people than last week but we had good fun. After dinner I had some of my old corridor mates (when I was staying on campus in the first semester) over for a drink. We had a lot of fun... and around 12am we all ended up in the pool playing ball games :-) After swimming in the pool we moved to the hot tube in the room of Reece. The foam was everywhere :-)
On Saturday Phil and I took the bikes for a trip to Mountain Tambourine. It took us an hour to get there (60km), but it was worth it! We went to a Greek restaurant for lunch and then we went to the botanic gardens. Some pictures:
Then we went back home. On our way back we stopped for a little ice cream.
Saturday night we were invited by a French couple for a BBQ at Main Beach. We had dinner, played card games outside on the terrace and it ended up staying there for the night. Sunday morning we had a good breakfast and we played some card games again (mainly Yaniv).
In the afternoon we went to Aldi to buy groceries.
On Monday night we played our beach volleyball game and we won!
Voila, that was it...
Jessie
By the way, in Brisbane we don't have Summer and Winter time, so we did not change the hour last weekend. So now there is 9h difference with Belgium!

If you look in the back you can see the big buildings on the Gold Coast!
